SEIU PA State Council Leaders’ statements following passage of federal budget bill

July 3, 2025

Trump and Republicans' monstrous budget bill has passed. It will bring massive harm to our communities - but we will continue fighting back to hold politicians and their billionaire backers accountable.

The House just passed the administration’s budget bill - the largest transfer of wealth from working people to the rich in our nation’s history. This bill will have serious, harmful impacts on every community and every Pennsylvanian.

“The bill passed today is outrageously expensive and horrifically cruel. It will take healthcare from 17 million people - including 310,000 families in Pennsylvania. It will take food from hungry people, slash research and higher education, pour money into ICE to terrorize families and tear apart our communities, and devastate our state budget. While the bill has passed, this fight is far from over.”

“This bill is pure cruelty. Families in every community of our Commonwealth and country will suffer, all to give billionaires more tax breaks. We will hold every member of Congress who voted for this accountable – at home and at the ballot box. We will never forget they traded our health for their wealth.”

“Republicans in Congress have made their priorities clear. This bill is anti-worker, anti-immigrant, anti-environment—and it does nothing to lower prices or improve lives. Our priorities are also clear, and our members will continue organizing and standing up for justice for all working people.”

“Republican politicians and their billionaire backers are gutting our healthcare, attacking immigrants and those who stand with them, crushing workers’ rights, and tearing down our democracy piece by piece to protect their power and wealth. We won’t forget these votes.”
