The Pennsylvania State Council of the Service Employees International Union announced endorsements today in key primary races for Pittsburgh City Council. Endorsements were announced for the following candidates:
City Council District 2: Theresa Smith
City Council District 4: Natalia Rudiak
City Council District 6: Tonya Payne
City Council District 8: Bill Peduto
“We are supporting candidates who have a proven record for championing legislation that raises standards for workers,” said Gabe Morgan, President of State Council and Western District Director of SEIU Local 32BJ, of incumbents Smith, Payne and Peduto. “SEIU members believe they can rely on these City Council members to continue to help improve their lives and bring prosperity to all Pittsburghers.”
Of newcomer Rudiak, Morgan said “SEIU is proud to endorse Natalia because of her commitment to working men and women and her knowledge of the important issues that Pittsburgh is facing. We are endorsing her not only because of her ideas, but because of her commitment to run a positive, issues oriented campaign that will help build a better Pittsburgh. Natalia Rudiak will provide the leadership our city needs right now.”
